We have succeeded in growing a high-quality single crystal of ThIn$$_3$$ with the cubic structure by the In-flux method and measured the de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect. Several dHvA branches were observed, ranging from 9.0 $$times$$ 10$$^6$$ to 9.37 $$times$$ 10$$^8$$ Oe. The experimental results are compared to the dHvA results of CeIn$$_3$$ under pressure of 2.7 GPa, together with the results of energy band calculations.

We have succeeded in growing a high-quality single crystal of ThIn$$_3$$ with the cubic structure by the In-flux method and measured the electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect. Several dHvA branches were observed, ranging from 5.2 $$times$$ 10$$^6$$ to 1.7 $$times$$ 10$$^8$$ Oe. The Fermi surface consists of a nearly spherical Fermi surface and a multiply-connected Fermi surface with many but small extremal cross-sections. The corresponding cyclotron effective masses are small, ranging from 0.31 to 1.4 $$m_0$$. These Fermi surface properties are well explained by the energy band calculations based on the FLAPW method.

We observed for the first time the de Haas-van Alphen oscillation in a paramagnet PuIn$$_3$$. One detected dHvA branch named $$gamma$$ corresponds to a closed band-27 electron Fermi surface, where three kinds of closed Fermi surfaces are calculated on the basis of the 5$$f$$-itinerant band model. The cyclotron mass of branch $$gamma$$ was determined as 4.8 $$m_0$$. The dHvA signals are found to be extremely reduced as a function of time due to point defects produced by $$alpha$$-decay of $$^{239}$$Pu.
